God Is the Potter We Are The Clay

When a sculptor shapes his sculpture, he does so by removing superfluous parts of clay from a previously amorphous lump. The true beauty of the piece is revealed by taking away those areas that hide what is meant to be. In much the same manner, in our spiritual life, we attempt to remove those parts of our person that prevent a full relationship of love with God. We try to strip away the selfishness and the fear that hinder our ability to live and love as God wills. But this hindrance, just as any other in our lives, can be overcome by God's grace.
